Farmar out with groin injury

Add Jordan Farmar to the ever-growing list of casualties for the Nets this season.

Farmar, who has dealt with groin injuries all season long, was ruled out for at least the next 10 days before last night’s 105-84 loss to the Jazz at Prudential Center.

“Injuries are part of the game,” Farmar said after the game. “I’ve just got to understand that it happens, and you’ve got to get healthy. Health is first and foremost. I’ve got a long career ahead of me — I’m only 25 — and I just want to get it right.

Jordan Farmar said he strained his groin in Tuesday’s practice, but the Nets’ backup point guard expected that with treatment all day, he’d be able to play against the Memphis Grizzlies tonight.

But all the treatment made the groin sore, he said, and he was scratched from the game right at the start. He does hope to play Thursday night in Indianapolis, he said.

“We decided just to relax, ice it, let it cool back down, hopefully, with some anti-inflammatory medication and let it rest for another day, it won’t be an issue anymore,” Farmar said. “Hopefully, on the plane, it kicks in strong and it feels much better tomorrow.”
