Jordan chats with fans to kick off ESPNLosAngeles.com

Jason (TN)- What has been the biggest adjustment that a PG must make in the conversion to the triangle offense?

Jordan Farmar
Not having the ball. That’s the biggest thing. Usually the point guard has the ball a lot. And distributes it. But as soon as you come across half court, you pass it and you’re off and running. There’s no point guard in the triangle.

Nick (Bakersfield, CA)
Hey, what’s going on with the Bruins in basketball this year?

Jordan Farmar
It’s tough. We had a lot of good players leave school early. A lot of programs deal with that. We didn’t have guys step in to fill the void. We have some third and fourth year players that are getting to play for the first time, because they were behind the guys who left.

Jim (Ventura, CA)
Your dad was a heck of a baseball player. How about you? Did you take a few swings growing up?

Jordan Farmar
Yeah, I played baseball first. I fell in love with basketball since I was four. I’m pretty good at baseball. I probably could have done either, but I fell in love with basketball and chose to do that.

Ed (Inland Empire)
Do you work more on your 3 point shooting or the midrange jumper?

Jordan Farmar

Both. Both. I’m trying to be very selective in your shots when you’re in my role. You could be sitting down and then get in and get out on the perimeter for a wide open three. You have to be ready at any time.

Josh (Woodland Hills )
you have been playing very well of late. How do you prepare for each game and how do you work on your game during the summer?

Jordan Farmar
The offseason is where you really make strides and improve your game. You push yourself and try to do more and more. Then in the season, you get to show how you’ve improved your game.

rywiby (provo utah)
now be honest… standing flat footed would you or shannon brown have the highest vert?

Jordan Farmar
Vertical leap, getting off the ground? It would be close. But getting off the ground and dunking it? Probably him. He has longer arms. I can’t even palm the ball.

Al (N.J.)
Jordan, You give the second team so much energy. Do you enjoy the challenge of playing with that group?

Jordan Farmar
Yeah. We all want to play more and be starters. Everyone wants to advance and get more opportunity. But in order to be a champion and play with a champion, you have to sacrifice. Knowing you represent for more than yourself and for the best organization, everyone’s sacrifice is important. We definitley enjoy it.

Cameron (California)
What is it like playing for Phil Jackson? What is the most important thing he has taught you?

Jordan Farmar
Just to continue to play the game. He’s a big preacher of momentum. Getting it and sustaining it. Getting through things. He doesn’t call timeouts, he believes in playing through it.

Mark (San Francisco)
What is your favorite instrument while playing Rock Band?

Jordan Farmar
The drums. Definitely the drums.

Omar (Indiana)
What have you learned from Kobe over the yrs?

Jordan Farmar
His competitive nature. His desire to win all the time. He really works at his craft. He knows his capabilities.

Aram Namavar (Westwood)
What was the toughest transition for you going from UCLA to the Lakers?

Jordan Farmar
Not playing. Not having the ball all the time. The competition level, playing against pros. Not getting into a rhythm. Not making mistakes. Not playing freely has been the biggest adjustment.

Jason (TN)
Jordan, with your contract up at the end of the year, what are your plans? Do you see yourself staying long term in LA? Do you have the urge to try to get a starter’s slot elsewhere?

Jordan Farmar
Not sure. My plans are to play the season out. Not think about it. Playing basketball now and see what my options are at the end of the season.

Mike (Agoura)
Whats the biggest challenge for the team this year?

Jordan Farmar
To continue to stay focused. Make every game as important as the last one. We’re playing for the best record. We know what’s at stake.

Tabatha Valls (Barcelona, Spain)
What is it like playing next to Gasol or Kobe?

Jordan Farmar
It’s great. They make the game easy. They’re really talented. They make the game easy for us. I really enjoy it. I really think how special it is to see them every day in practice.

Kevin (Los Angeles)
Which part of your game do you need to improve the most?

Jordan Farmar
Right now, it’s really working on catching and shoot. It’s something you need to do as a guard. Derek Fisher has made a career out of it.

Foreman (SD)
What’s the best game you have ever played?

Jordan Farmar
That’s tough. I’ve had some good games in high school, college. Games that are meaningful. Championship games in high school. Final Fours in college. NBA championship games.

hAYDEN (lOGAN, uTAH)
Do you hob-nob with Jack Niskelson?

Jordan Farmar
I have some friends that are celebrities, but I’m a homebody. I like to go home and hang out.

Cameron (California)
Speaking of Dfish, what have u learned from him?

Jordan Farmar
A lot. The reason why he’s so successful is that he’s even keeled. He’s calm and poised. More than anything, that’s one thing that hits me most and I notice on a daily basis.

Jordan Farmar
Thank you so much. I appreciate all your support. We’ll try to bring another championship home!
