Jordan's blog - five on 5

Hey, wassup?

November 4 was my first time voting. It was great, especially to be part of such a historical event. To be a person of color in this country is a big thing, and a lot of us never thought that we’d see, in our lifetime, the election of a multi-cultural person to the country’s highest office.

I’m a multi-cultural kid, my dad’s black and my mom’s white. I was born and bred in L.A. I’ve been there, done that. But to play a small part in the election of Mr. Obama was thrilling. I was fortunate to have introduced him at a fundraiser. I got to meet him, hang out with him; he knew who I was, talked to me…

Farmar to carry on Fisher legacy

Dave McMenamin – NBA.com

Derek Fisher’s legacy with the Lakers is set in stone after being a key member of the Lakers three-peat from 2000-02, hitting that impossible shot with 0.4 seconds left against San Antonio and starting with the team in the same rookie class as Kobe Bryant and serving as perhaps the lone teammate that Bryant trusted and respected for his level of dedication throughout his whole career.

But while Kobe’s level of play continues to rise in his 13th season, time is starting to catch up with the 34-year old Fisher who is shooting .349 from the field. Fisher is still Phil Jackson’s most trusted option at the point guard position, still starting and playing 27.9 minutes a night,...

Jordan answers questions about UCLA basketball

While at the UCLA game this weekend, Jordan spoke with the LA Times about the his thoughts on UCLA’s upcoming season.

Q: Have you played pickup with any of the new guys?

Jordan Farmar: All of them, pretty much.

Q: What do you think about them as a whole?

JF: They’re a good group. They know how to play. They play hard. I like Jrue [Holiday] a lot. He reminds me of myself when I was in high school.

Q: What specifically stands out about him?

JF: His high basketball IQ. And I like the way he uses his left. He uses his left hand a lot even though he’s right-handed. He’s going to be a great player. He’s talented. The whole class is…

Professionalism key to Farmar's success

It was the kind of thing anyone would forget. In the life of an NBA player, there are about 50 of this type of thing to deal with every day. Little things to show up for, commitments, appearances, favors for someone. Once a guy becomes one of the league’s top players, it’s almost imperative to hire a personal assistant to handle that kind of stuff.

But when you’re still on a rookie contract, that’s not exactly in the budget. And so it was that Jordan Farmar momentarily forgot he’d told Lakers’ public relations director John Black he’d do a phone interview Wednesday morning at 9.

Just to be sure, Black reminded Farmar about it Tuesday night after the Lakers’ season…

Lakers' bench is off to a strong start

They will be one of the keys to the Lakers’ success this season.

Then again, the Lakers’ bench was a big part of their success last season.

In the season opener for the Lakers on Tuesday night, their reserves demonstrated just how important they will be in helping L.A. to a 96-76 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night at Staples Center.

Lamar Odom, coming off the bench after initially being upset about that role when it was first presented to him, produced nine points on three-for-six shooting, and seven rebounds.

Jordan Farmar directed the attack, handing out six assists, collecting six rebounds and scoring nine points.

Trevor Ariza was a force, scoring 11 points on four-for-seven shooting.

Sasha Vujacic, still rounding into shape…
